The color gradients in, “Vivid Chroma Locomotion,” correspond to the speed at which the murals are viewed from the constant and busy streams of traffic along Richmond Avenue. Viewers can expect to be uplifted, surprised and amused by the lively and bright large scale murals. “Vivid Chroma Locomotion,” was commissioned through NYC DOT Art’s signature program, Community Commissions, in which DOT Art collaborates with community-based, nonprofit organizations to commission artists to design and install temporary artwork on DOT property. This is the 8th Community Commissions project to be installed in Staten Island.
