The theme of “exploring distant galaxies” was selected by Principal Fulerton for Phase 1 of this mural project. The mural lives in the Science Hallway at Frederick Douglass Academy. The vision is for this outerspace/galaxies design to be the background of a future mural that will showcase lots of important figures in the science history.
We had about 10 students help on day one with priming and prepping the wall with black background. All the students received community service for their help beautifying the school. During the painting, many other students wanted to join and help. Throughout the painting days, the mural was well received by students and staff. Many students are excited to participate in Phase 2 next year to add more to this idea.
